Money myths Making more money is not always the answer to every situation in life. Some people think money is the answer to everything and therefore lead an unbalanced life to the detriment to the relationship they have with their partner, parents and/or their children. If you are one of those people who are “go getters” and are goal orientated, you run the risk of being successful in your working career but have other areas such as your family and your health falling apart around you. There is nothing wrong with being goal oriented towards earning a good living, however make sure you keep your life in balance such as having a rest day as well.Consider these six topics and ask yourself some of the questions below to establish is your life in balance in all these areas? Remember you can not change the past, however you can take action to positively influence the future.
Physical Health. Is my body weight in proportion to my height and frame? Do I eat a balanced diet? Do I exercise regularly? Am I free of habits (such as smoking) that will endanger my health?
![]() Career & Financial. Do I live within my income? Do I use credit responsibly? Do I effectively manage work related stress? Do I behave financially ethically?
Family & Home. Do I have open and honest communication with all members of my family? Do I regularly spend quality time with each family member where I am able? Do I have an area of my home either inside or outside that I enjoy?
Mental & Educational. I am aware of my strengths and weaknesses. I generally have a positive attitude. I am actively involved in some study that will advance my goals.
Social & Recreation. I have a strong varied network of friends. I have boundaries with my friends where we all feel respected. I have friends I can call on when I need help.
Spiritual & Ethical. I live my life with integrity according to a clear set of values. I treat others as I want to be treated. I have a strong sense of purpose in life. I live with a clear conscience.
