Why teach your children about money?

The answer is because 43% of people aged 18 – 24 in New Zealand have a negative net worth (are broke) and are going to be starting their life off in debt. In other words they are spending more than they are earning. Did you know that New Zealanders are spending $1.14 for every dollar they are earning? (Sourced from the New Zealand Department of Statistics in May 2008). I suspect that from what I see on television news that this statistic would be about right for most developed countries.
